| The District Response Initiative (DRI) ran from 2001 to 2005 in rural districts in Zimbabwe which had become disadvantaged in the level of community services available.
This page will document the project and provide insights on how communities mobilized to develop initiatives on important issues such as HIV counseling and testing, the empowerment of the girl child to reduce the high rate of sexual abuse and HIV infection in young girls, Community based orphan care and Behavior change and promoting condom use, especially in areas with mobile populations.
The DRI was funded by the United Nations Foundation as a pilot project to find out ways which could make money work better.
The project was programmed through the National AIDS Council with the support of UN agencies.
